I recently just stumbled across this picture of the gorgeous Zooey Deschanel and I was really shocked to see yet another Hollywood star who has shown that powder can be your enemy if not used correctly.
Dear, dear, dear not only is this shade way to light for her which attracts away from her gorgeous face but it has aged her significantly.
It ages her by making her fine lines pop out rather then stay hidden, like they should be. Her pink blush is cute but I really think that by having a warmer colour powder would have not only make her appear healthier but also really brightened up her complexion. I know she is a fair skin sister but this shade is all wrong for her.
This is why recently I have been in love with translucent powder (I will be doing a post on this soon!) which means whilst you spend time blending in your foundation and matching it to your skin tone the powder is like well see through so it just does what it should do which is set the foundation and making your makeup last longer!
What do you think? Have you ever been guilty of committing this sin? Have you ever tried Translucent powder?

love translucent powder. my favourite is the Australis one! its so good!
ReplyDeleteI also disagree with telling people what foundation/blush,eyeshadow,etc they should wear, its really tacky and rude.
ReplyDeleteThese women that were posted look PERFECTLY FINE! take their photos around the globe and people will agree with me. Some people prefer to look pale/paler...look at dita von teese for instance, she stays clear from the sun to avoid darkening in an interview she told reporters that. Some people like to be darker and sun kissed with bronzer on top of that, its your personal preference. Its just jealousy that someone would point that out, who is anyone to tell someone theyre wearing a too light or too dark foundation, because there is no such thing. Nicole and Sam from pixiwoo(huge makeupartists in Britain) sometimes wear paler or darker foundation and it looks gorgeous! as long as people blend it to the neck its fine....some people prefer to look bright and radiant rather than dim and dark/dull. People who are already light can wear any foundation they want and not look ashen
if that's "too light" than the rest of the world wears LIGHTER! her concealer isnt light enough if anything! stop hating, she looks fine!
Don't all the stars have their own makeup artists? I'd probably blame them for this mismatching blunder...
ReplyDeleteSome interesting points of view... My personal opinion (and it is only that - my opinion) is that Zooey doesn't look her best in this picture. I doubt that this is an error in the colour of product used, it looks to me like she is wearing makeup that is incompatible with flash photography, giving her the "ghost face" effect. I would also think that she would do well to have a face mist on hand to get rid of that "powdery" look her makeup has.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the point of this post was to give anyone a hard time, rather to point out that Zooey, although incredibly gorgeous, is not looking her best here, and perhaps there is something to be learned from this mistake.
And as Ling said - I'd be blaming the MUA!
I love generating conversation with blog posts. I think the point of my blog was to really point out that some powders that may look good when they put on are, as sara-may pointed out, not flash compatible. I have had that problem before and have blogged about my personal expierence, generally it has been my expierence that these powders are often white. Also right in that this was probably a MUA stuff up and you would think they would know better as they would be used to dealing with highly photographed celebrities. I do welcome all comments on my blog and this was not an attack on anyone or any celebrity. Thanks miss chew :)
