Matching Lipstick to your Hair colour? Sweet!

Since I am rocking the purple and bandana look today and since I actually have a tan today also I thought why not go all matchy matchy with a lippie too.

I tried out the L'oreal range of Made for Me Intense a little while ago and I love it! This shade is called Sparkling Amethyst- 25.95 and is made for Brunettes like Moi!

The colour doesn't come out as intense as the pic of the actual lipstick you can see in the pic of my lippies below it is actually a bit pink with some purple. I never thought I would have been able to pull off a purple lippie but these guys at L'Oreal know their stuff and they know what will work with my hair colour.

The actual lippie is very moisturising and the colour holds up well throughout the day, although I like to top it up as I like it bold, no point not making an impact and it really suits my outfit!

I am really keen to find out what other kinds of lippie they think will suit me? Should totes check them out!

Rocking a Bandana for Canteen Day!

If you catch any form of public transport today you will know that its National Bandana Day today for Canteen to raise money towards the camps, services and programs that help young people living with cancer. I did my bit and bought one today and was rather surprised at the arrange of colours and styles, man these guys have come along way since I was in High School.
The one I bought just happens to match wonderfully with my outfit I am wearing today and decided to go the whole hog and wear it on my head. See pic!
Now I am not one to normally pull something like this off as I am rather uncoordinated but I am loving it!

They only cost $4, cheap as chippies and I am loving the Pucci feel this bandana has given me!

Trying to look more chic then pirate but if I look like a pirate at least it's Halloween!

What do you think?

Since you guys went bananas over Burt's Bees here is another one I love...

When I did my post about Burt's Bees Milk and Honey Nourishing Body Lotion yesterday you guys went nuts! But nuts in a good way not in a throwing peanuts at me way, jeez!
So I thought why not mention another prod of theirs that I am going nuts over. (ok, ok, I'll stop with the nuts puns)

This product is the Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil-$6.95.

I bought it from Priceline recently and it has done wonders for my lips. I find it just gives the slightest hint of colour and instantly makes my lips so super smooth which I think the Pomegranate oil is great for. It also contains many other wonderful oils such as sunflower and coconut oil and the condition of my lips has never been better!

Here is a pic of me re-applying yet again as I love it so much! I am going to go through these little tubes so quickly I can tell.

It's great for: This crazy weather when you do not know whether it is hot or cold. Loving the all natural part too!

Get amongst it people!!

Here is me being re-applying my Burt's Bees-yet again!

Review: Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Foundation

Oh Foundation, I am constantly on the hunt trying each new one on the market to see if you really deliver what you say you will. Generally these days I stick with Powder Mineral Foundation something that is very natural during the day as I really do not see the point in clogging my poor pores when I am just going to work. If, however I am going out for a night on the town or I am going to something like the races or a wedding then I would wear foundation. I often cringe when I see girls going to work with a thick layer of foundation on, it makes me think, man when do these girls let their skin breathe! When you look close enough (without looking like a weirdo) you can see all the little bumps on their skin, like I used to have which is blocked pores. Anyway, I will hop off my soap box to tell you about my latest try.

My most recent try is Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour Foundation with Micro Flex Formula- $21.95.

Right off the bat I find that a little bit goes a long way and depending on the coverage I want I can actually build it up. The next thing I notice is that it feels velverty on my skin, with a matt consistency. I really found the colour I used added warmth to my complexion as well, which considering I am now pasty as I am about to tan again, this does really help.

Throughout the day I was noticing how it was handling the wear and tear and it stood up well. Gently feeling my skin (with back of hand) it still felt matt and soft and held up against oily skin. I hardly found the need to touch up which was very good if I am after that great stay foundation and if doing touch ups is something that is a little difficult.

The colour stayed the same all day as well. All in all I am very impressed with this foundation and will continue to use it til the next new one comes along.

Burt's Bees is the Bee's Knees....

I had a little baby bottle of this that I was given a while ago and the lovely girls at Burt's Bees recently sent me a big bottle yay!!!
I must tell you about my love for their Naturally Nourishing Milk and Honey Body Lotion-$26
This cream really is amazing, not only does it smell absolutely delish but I love the way it feels on my skin.
To me it isn't too thick which I think is perfect for me to apply in the morning as it is very easily and quickly absorbed.
The soft, summery scent stays on my skin throughout the day and it really keeps my skin hydrated long after I have applied it to my skin.
The great point with Burt's Bees products is its 98.25% natural ingredients so I feel like this is something that is good for my body and not a harsh chemical sort of product.
I like that if I have tanned my skin (which is pretty much a given from now on) if hides any fake tan smell which is a bonus!
I also find that at night I may apply a little bit more but it still feels just as good as a thick night lotion that I might use.
All in all really you can't beat that smell.... ahhhhh bliss....

You can buy it: at David Jones and now Priceline and some other selected stores.

Is it weird that I keep smelling my arm?

What to do with your makeup and hair post lunchbreak gym visit?

Whilst being a very big fan of Primped's Miss Zoe Foster I try and get as much advice off her as frequently as I can. On Twitter she often will answer a twuestion and here was mine:

After a gym session in my lunch break what do you recommend for the best beauty skin care routine?
I often find this is an area I struggle with as I never have much time and I don't want to lug around everything I own, I'm no pack mule.... Anyway this was her response...

"Here’s what I reckon. And yes, I’m throwing in hair and makeup too. Don’t hate me because I’m generous.
I will assume you have showered after your rope climbing class, which indicates your face will have been cleansed. Take facial wipes instead of cleanser - faster! easier! - and avoid removing your eye makeup if you can: this will give you a ‘made up’ look when you race back into work and save you re-applying it all.
Skip the holy trinity of serum, face cream and sun screen and instead multitask your ass off with a hydrating tinted moisturiser with sunscreen.

Add some foundation if you want more coverage, or powder over the top if you get shine.
If your face gets VERY RED after exercise and stays that way for thousands of hours like mine does, pack a green-based primer or corrector in your gym bag - this will balance out the red and give you a much, much more neutral base than if you just use tinted moisturiser/foundation. Biotherm does a great corrective makeup base called White Detox Biotanic Lyzer Corrective Makeup Base SPF 25 Anti-Redness Effect, which as the name suggests is both anti-redness and has a high SPF.

Next, conceal under the eyes and around the nose, both areas which are bound to be redder than usual from all those blood vessels just beaming with happy, oxygenated, exercisey blood.
Steer clear of blush, but maybe dust on a little bronzer so that when your hot little mug calms down you have some contouring and vitality still hanging around. Go very easy and just skim the hairline, cheekbones and jawline. I am besotted with Becca’s new mineral bronzer at the moment, which is very lightweight and sinks beautifully into the skin, but if you want a really light bronzer, try Clinique’s Almost Bronzer.
If you read that bit up a few sentences about not removing your eye makeup as you wipe off your makeup post-workout, then your eyes should still be done. If you took it all off - or started off without any - put on two coats of mascara. As Plato once said: “When the face is red and the hair is grimy, make sure your lashes are coated and shiny.”
Nude gloss is best - wearing a brightly coloured lipstick with a flushed face ain’t great. (Wait til your skin has calmed down then pop the colour back on.)
Hair? Well, provided you bobby pinned back the front parts and lifted the bulk up into a high, looseish pony (too tight will create more dents and more sweat), your hair shouldn’t be too bad. Flip your mop upside down and spray a generous amount of dry shampoo (like Tigi’s Rockaholic Dirty Secret dry shampoo, $32.95) through and leave for 30 seconds to sink in and soak up all the sweat. If you have access to a blow dryer, awesome - blast that baby back into shape. If you don’t, and it’s all a bit hard, pull it up into a chic top knot or pony.
Now spray on some perfume, grab your stinky gym bag and get back to work, you fit, beautiful son of a bitch."

Well that was a mouthful and totally and utterly helpful. You can see the full post here.
-I give full credit to Zoe Foster at Primped for this, I only asked the Twitter question and these images are courtesy of Primped.

I know I really want to get my mits on everything, in particularly the Biotherm white detox to reduce my reddness as man, I go like red, red!

What is your after Gym routine?

A cheap and amazing Shampoo and Conditioner, Yay!!

Thank goodness for Schwarzkopf Extra Care Deep Nutrition Shea Cashmere Shampoo and Conditioner- $6.99.
Well to start off with the price point is great and really affordable. This shampoo and conditioner is readily available as well. The second thing is that they both smell AMAZING!!! If you read my blog on the review of David Babaii Shampoo you would know that the smell of shampoo really can be a deal breaker for me. The Shea butter smells like coconut and well again I use that word... Summer....
This shampoo and conditioner are riched with Shea butter which I absolutely love, I find it really nourishing and makes my hair so silky and soft.

There use a Cell repair system that uses hair-identical proteins to repair inside the cell of the hair follicle, nourishing it from the inside out.

They also make my hair nice and shiny and healthy looking which with my long hair I really need.

The only complaint I guess I would have is that when I apply the conditioner I don't get that same really nourishing feel at first when I rub it into my hair but once I have let it soak for a few minutes then I do notice the difference. When I dry my hair it feels stronger which I have noticed from other shampoos.

So after using this product I would definitley recommend it to anyone needing a really nourishing clean.

Short & Sweet- Eyeliner Technique

So when I was doing my makeup this morning I happened to stumble across a slightly different way of doing liquid eyeliner.

What I have been doing lately and I believe I have mentioned it in a blog is doing a more subtle version of liquid eyeliner by only lining the outer half of my eye.
I start in the middle drawing along my lash line then I draw it thicker as I get towards the edge.
What I did today (now try stay with me on this on) is the top lash line I draw outwards past my lash line like I normally do (1) then the lower lash line from that corner I drew up towards where I had taken the top lash line out (2) so it almost made a triangle then I filled that little gap in.

What it gave me was a thicker more defined winged eyeliner which I think is much more of a stand out eye

Here is a pic with my eye opened today so you can get a different view. Hope this makes sense.

Review of Omnilux...and then there was light.... therapy!

When I was going through a time earlier in the year when my skin was going through a rough patch I was invited to get a series of treatments by the lovely girls at True Solutions.

When I arrived I met with Gwen who really knows her skin. She explained to me that she was going to do a chemical peel and then I was going get Omnilux light therapy session on my face.

I feel like light therapy for women under say 35 years gets a bad wrap as being completely unnecessary, this is totally untrue.

What you will learn is there are different types of light. When it comes to Omnilux there are either a Blue light or a Red light.

The Red light (Revive) works best for slightly older skins as it stimulates the production of Collagen to help re-plump the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps with pigmentation. This is the kind of light I will start using in a few years.

The Blue light (called Blue) is what I used as it really helps to get rid of acne. It does this by the light actually killing the bacteria in the acne lesions on your face. When you have acne your face is actually infected so by killing the bacteria you are getting rid of the acne. This was the one for me!

Once my peel, it's time for the Omnilux- a little strip of paper is placed over your eyes so you are not staring into the light and the Omnilux machine (shown above) is positioned very close to your face (maybe a few cm's away) and then you are left under the warmth. What is great about this treatment is there is no pain, just feels like you are relaxing in the sun. Whilst my face was being treated my lovely therapist gave me a leg and arm massage (ummm...hello heaven?). Then that is it!

I had a good look at my skin after I was finished and I was surprised at how calm my acne looked, the intense angry redness that comes with acne had settled a lot and my skin was glowing! I loved it and instantly wanted more!!

How much does it cost?: Generally about a $99 a go and that usually includes a peel.

To get the best results: It's best to get a series of treatments (they usually do packs of 10 at a discounted rate)

Where can I get it?: There are a lot of places that do it and you can check on the spa universe website to find your closest location. http://www.spauniverse.com.au/

EYE spy with my little eye...some amazing eyecream, that's what!

Here I go again jumping on my Clinique bandwagon going on and on about how great their products are... but they are good, really!

This is another one of those tried and tested products that without fail will never cease to disappoint me. You know those products you know and love that when a current products runs out and you are thinking hmmm what eye cream will I buy next? You know that this is a winner!

This is where the Clinique All About Eyes- $58 comes into play. Now there are 2 versions of this cream the normal version and the Rich which is pictured here. Now I mean rich cause it's thick in consistency not cause it's for the wealthy folk duh...
By having 2 versions I find it is suitable to me year round. I use the normal version in Summer when hydrating my skin is not an issue and the Rich one in Winter when my poor skin is feeling dry and unloved.

It really does feel amazing around your eyes. It isn't scented which I really appreciate and it very gentle. You really only need a tiny amount for each eye. When I am applying eye cream I make sure I am very gentle around the eye and pat the cream in- DO NOT rub your eye area. For more tips about applying eye cream you can view my blog here and here.

Ok have you read those tips? Great... moving along...

This cream works really well at getting rid of those pesky dark circles and puffiness. I actually feel like the skin under my eye which when I am run can feel really thin, I find with this cream actually feels more plump which makes my eye makeup look better and makes me look healthier.

I always use my eye cream morning and night as you guys should as well. As well as using it directly under my eye and on my eye lid I also extend it to the outer corner around my eye and that area as I feel that as this is where crows feet will appear, that I should be nourishing and protecting this area whilst I can to prevent the damage occurring.

I usually buy Clinique from Myer or David Jones but you can also buy online from shops like strawberrynet where it is much cheaper.

Cooling Day Moisturiser which is perfect for Summer

If you are looking for a great multi-tasking day moisturiser that's perfect for Summer, then this one could be the one for you!
Introducing the Estee Lauder Day Wear Plus- Multi Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme SPF 15- $80 (What a mouthful!)

There are many reasons why this creme is wonderful and I shall list them:

1.  SPF 15-This amazing day creme protects your lovely face from the harsh UV light which is something we should all be doing everyday-which will prevent the signs of ageing.
2. Contains some mighty powerful antioxidants- this little baby includes wonders such as South African red tea, grape seed and vitamins C and E. It re-energizes skin’s own defenses with white birch extract and eukarion.
3. It is cooling on your skin-This is probably my most favourite feature. It has a cucumber scent and honestly I don't know what smells more fresh than cucumber! When you pop this on in the morning not only do you feel refreshed but in Summer when we are harsh on our skin it really cools your skin down. I think it's the perfect day creme for Summer.

The creme is quite light too and is a white colour.

What I am loving about these creme's is they are giving you more and more bang for your buck and means that one creme can do so many things without piling your cremes on.

I notice in Summer I never get any incidental Sun damage on my face when I wear this creme (I may on my shoulders or chest, but this is something I am going to improve on this Summer) so this way I know that they work and that they are providing me with the protection I need in the harsh Summer months.

Doing my bit to help Breast Cancer Research

This month guys is Breast Cancer Awareness month and what's great about that is all these wonderful brands are doing their bit to raise money.
I love my Clinique products and this "Dramatically Different Moisturiser" has been in rotation of my beauty products for years". There are different versions to meet your skin care needs. I have tried both the lotion and the gel version and they both leave my skin feeling great and hydrated. What they are really, really great for is if you have sensitive skin. They contain no fragrances and are dermatology tested.
I find that it's best to focus on one particularly potent product. For example a great serum that packs a punch or a moisturiser filled with lots of goodies. When you start loading up on lots of products that do all wonders of things that's when my skin freaks out.
This lotion is gentle on your skin and you can now get this mammoth 200ml version for $110 and $20 from each bottle sold will go towards Breast Cancer Research! Aren't they nice!
I highly recommend you get one of these cute limited edition bottles this month whilst you can as it's one product that is never going out of style!

Maxfactor Liptick- Maximum Colour!

Image from Ellevictoire
I love a bright lippie, especially when I am not really wearing any makeup today as I am going to be wearing full makeup tonight so I like to let my skin breathe.

This is my absolute favourite, its by Maxfactor called Bewitching Coral- approx $20 The colour is a great combination between a bright pink with a hint of coral and is right on trend for lipstick colours right now. It really packs a punch!

It is a matte lipstick yet it is so hydrating for my lips. This lipstick has really great staying power as well- great for a night out.

Usually when I applied bright lipstick I will either do one of 2 techniques. Either I will be a good girl and line my lips with a lipstick liner then apply my lipstick or (which I did today) I out some of the lipstick onto my finger (clean finger, gosh!) and rub it into my lips gradually building up to the level of colour I want. I find this way the colour last longer and doesn't come off. I do this especially if I am with my boyfriend (I know men hate the thought of getting lipstick on them) this way it won't kiss off!

'scuse the poor quality pic, taken at my desk- see no makeup!
I faked tanned last night too, not that you can tell from this pic...whitey, mcwhitey...

Where to find: Myer, Target, Kmart, Big W, Priceline and selected pharmacy outlets.

Loves it!

Short & Sweet- Keeping your eye bags at bay!

As we enter the party season (yippee!!!) I also know what comes with the good is also the bad. With lots of partying equals late nights, not enough sleep or good food and our bodies pay the price for us having too much fun.
I don't know about you but for me not only does it show with spots on my face but also with bags under my eyes.

Enter this little tip... Now I know you are all great at applying your eye cream morning and night aren't you? Yes you are. So when you get home tonight or if you are home now, pop your eye cream in the fridge. This way not only will it works its wonders on your peepers but it will cool them down and reduce the swelling causing the "puffiness" and voila- you are ready to do it all over again!

For a great eye cream I recommend: Clinique "All about eyes" and the rich version in Winter -$58 (I'll blog more about this later)

Short & Sweet- learning how to do liquid eyeliner

Have you ever seen girls with perfect liquid eyeliner and just wondered how in the heck do they do that?

Well this is a little tip I got taught for when you are learning. Every time you go to have a shower put liquid eyeliner on, that way you are not going anywhere where you will be stressing how perfect it is and smudge it and then you can wash it straight off. You will be a pro in no time! :)

I also break it up to 2 sections I start from the middle to the outer side then the inner to the middle. When you try to do one big one line at first this is when you can make mistakes. It is best to try to have a thicker brush or even a pen version to start with and then get thinner as you become more advanced.

Future is here....

I love the festival season and everything about it, I love hearing my fave bands all in one day, the fashion the dancing, I have made some fantastic memories from these days but this next festival season was leaving me rather disappointed... until now....

FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL!!!
 Dates:

Tickets:

-just so you know the VIP tix are not worth it, honestly load of crap... save your money for drinks on the day or a novelty t-shirt!

Review last year: Last year the acts were great but that is about it. The annoying thing about future is the venue... It gets bloody hot and there is virtually no shade and there is this big bloody bridge you have to cross to get from act to act which is crowded with thousands of people... So I say that unless you absolutely LOVE this acts, I wouldn't bother. I wouldn't be going either but I am pretty much in love with half of these acts... especially Dizzee Rascal. I saw him at BDO last year and he knocked my socks off! Best act of the day and that was the general consensus too!
The other great thing about Future is it has a silent disco, If you have never done one before, oh good lord the fun! It is hilarious watching people dance around and with the headphones off to total silence...

Do you love festivals? Are you going to future...

The look I can't wait to recreate this weekend!

This weekend is my boyfriends birthday so it's more excuse then ever to make sure I am looking good when we have a few drinks this weekend.
I have been tossing up what kind of look I want to go for (I'm a bit beauty obsessed, and an over planner... can't be helped) and when I came across this picture of Hillary Duff on
http://www.primped.com.au/ at her recent book launch I was in love!

This is also probably my favourite version of balayage I have seen. It is perfect, not too contrasted and blends in perfectly. This in itself is something I have been tossing up getting for a while, but that's another story.

Anyway what I am loving is her beautiful eye makeup.
I have tried to get a close up below but it has gone a little fuzzy so I apologise.
What she has done is line the entire inner eye with black eyeliner which really makes her eyes pop and covered the eye in a brownish, grey colour which she has taken out further at the sides and all the way up to the crease in her eye.
One problem I have been having when trying to do a good smokey eye in the past is knowing how to line the upper part of my eye and not lose the effect of the smokey eye or become too much. How I over came this is once I have applied the eyeshadow I will take my liquid liner and only line the outer half of my eye and make it thicker to the edge and then wing out like I normally do. When I line the entire upper lid it looks too full on.

I love how she has gone for a smudgy eye shadow of the same colour and black under the eye as well and this has been taken to the outer corner to enhance the smokey eye.

Why I love this look: I usually do the same makeup when I go out which is a nude eye with thick winged liquid eyeliner and either a nude or bright lip with bronzed and pink cheeks. (I'll pop pics up to demonstrate at some point). So this for me is branching out and trying something different and the messy, texturised hair with a slight curl is just amazing.

I may need some tips on the hair front, I am rather hopeless when it comes to do anything with my hair but as I learn I plan to show you with pictures so we can learn together.

Once I have done this eye makeup I will provide pictures. To help demonstrate how to do this yourself.

What look at you hanging out to try?

David Babaii Shampoo REVIEW...

So this is the Shampoo and Conditioner which Kate Hudsen is currently parading about in the Africa wilderness holding a baby lion and promoting on our TV's.
I have been trying the David Babaii for Wildaid amplifying shampoo (approx $21) for the past few weeks and it was not quite what I expected.

I am usually a very passionate user of natural products but the scent of this one sort of put me off.
The smell is really unappealing and turns me right off it. As I have long hair one of my favourite things is having beautiful smelling smelling hair fresh out of the shower and there is just something about this shampoo that just smells off.

What I do like is that it is cruelty free, it has volcanic ash to give volume to your which it really delivers on and it hydrates and protects your hair.
In saying that yes my hair is nice and clean and has good body but I just can't escape the smell.

Have you tried this product and found the smell off putting?

You can buy this: From Priceline and other department stores.

Butter LONDON, the new OPI?

I have heard about Butter LONDON nail polishes for a while and finally bought my first (and definitley not my last). It's name is "Artful Dodger" and I am in love! The price is approx $20 per bottle and I cannot wait to add more to my collection!
I started off just painting my tootsies with it but couldn't not paint my fingernails with it for all to see.

I am a huge turquoise fan and this shade really delivers. The brush is great and easy to use. I did 2 coats to get the full block colour. For me it really hides the terrible condition of my nails underneath (I only recently got rid of my acrylics) and looks great on short nails too.

I find it goes with so many colours that I wear and I don't mind that it is so bright for work either as it makes me happy.

Dr Bronner's Organic Hand Soap

If you have read my posts before you will know I have a keen interest in beautiful smelling hand soaps. This was my first official purchase of one for my new apartment! I love it!!

What is great about Dr Bronner's range is it is certified organic which is no easy feat and all contain no synthetic detergents or preservatives.

This product is my absolute favourite of theirs which is the organic fair trade Shikakai Soap -approx $15-$20.

The main ingredient "Organic Shikakai comes from the seed pods of the small South Asian tree Acadia Concinna and has been used for millennia in India as a gentle conditioning cleanser for both skin and hair. We extract the Shikakai in organic sugar and grape juice and combine with Dr. Bronner's unsurpassed castile soap base for rich emollient lather and moisturizing afterfeel"-well there you go, we all learn something new, yay!

The liquid soap is actually a browny colour and smells so natural, it makes me hands smell great and feel really soft so this is a product I would definitely recommend.

I love supporting brands which are organic fair trade like how the body shop does as I feel that I am actually supporting something good and that makes me feel great whilst using these products.

As well as being good for mankind this soap also packs great ingredients such as organic white grape juice, organic hemp oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Lemongrass Oil, Organic Lemon Oil, Organic Lime Oil, so you know this shiz will smell amazing!

Just for a little added extra none of their products are tested on animals!

You can find Dr Bronners in selected department stores.

Bio Oil to heal your scars

In April this year I had to get my gallbladder removed which was pretty major surgery. The surgery itself was keyhole which means I have quite a few little scars. The biggest one being just above my belly button. I was told after surgery when my scar was quite raised that using bio-oil would help to heal my scar and make my scar not as visible.

What I have been doing is drenching a cotton ear bud in the oil when I come out of the shower and rubbing it into my scars, the massaging part is really important as it assists in the breaking down of the scar tissue and increasing circulation to the area all of which help your scar heal faster. I was doing this every day for months. I have definitely found that my scar has faded significantly and is more smooth.
I bought this from a chemist for around $25 and can also be used for: stretch marks and acne scars and uneven skin tone.

Side note: If you do have a new scar it is best to start using bio oil straight away as it will work much more effective, so the sooner the better. (once the skin is no longer open-if that makes sense)
Diet-Again if you have a fresh scar making sure you are getting enough vitamin E and C will help your body to natually heal the scars.

A quick tanning question asked to Miss Zoe Foster....

I don't know if you guys had seen it but recently the gorgeous Miss Zoe Foster appeared on "The Circle" talking about fake tanners. I IQ'd it on my TV as anything this woman says really is worth its weight in gold. You can view her segment here.

I really got some great tips off watching that segment. One tip that Zoe swore by was "Chux magic wipes are the BESTEST way to remove gnarly orange tan streaks". Not something that I would have thought of but I am all for time saving/cheap/do-it-at-home methods of tan care.

I also on twitter asked Zoe (my new best mate) on what she recommended for a facial tanner as my normal ones never seem to cut it when it comes to my face and often seem to harsh for my skin. Her reply was: "Elle Bache does a great tanner for face. So too Palmer's."

So quicker than you can say "fake tan" I was looking up exactly what prodz she was referring to and finding out all the deets.

The Ella Bache product is called "Great face tan, without the sun" $37, this is specifically designed to be a face tanner and has light reflecting bronzer to give you an instant radiant glow- noice! Ella Bache also say "It does not streak, dehydrate the skin, or turn orange. It contains two highly effective moisturisers, shea butter and honey-moist, which leave skin soft, hydrated and supple. It also features a complex of vitamin E and green tea extracts which support the skin's defence mechanisms by protecting skin against damage from environmental pollutants and other oxidative stresses". Sounds pretty damn good to me.

The Palmers product is Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze for Face $9.95. This little baby is a gradual tanner if you are like me and are white as a ghost and haven't seen the sun in many a year...What is great about this bad boy is it has cocoa butter and vitamin E to moisturise your face and will build to a good tan. This prod also contains SPF15 so it's a multi-tasker, I love multi-taskers!!

These are both top priortity on my list of prodz to try and I will let you know if they live up to the hype.

Lastly the great tip from Zoe to use them: 'Wear on freshly cleansed skin and don't moisturise for an hour" -there's something new you learn everyday....

Such wise words

Hand cream good enough to eat!

Grown- Vanilla and Orange Peel handcream- $21.60
These changes in seasons are wreaking havoc on my skin. I especially feel like around my cuticles gets really dry, so I have always been a big fan of hand cream. I have always enjoyed after having my nightly shower when I hop into bed, slathering my hands in a nice thick hand cream only to wake up in the morning with beautiful soft mittens.

This cream is one of my favourites. I don't know if you have been introduced to this brand before but you really should check it out. You can view the full range here This cream is vanilla and orange peel and smells like cookies, I could eat this up if I was allowed to, honestly the smell is a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!

Not only does it smell great but it is so nice and thick without being too greasy. It contains antioxidants from grape seed, wheat germ and rosehip oil which helps to nourish and protect your skin.

The rosehip and camellia seed oil increase the skins lipid content which helps to restore moisture levels, keeping your hands hydrated and not dried out (like mine can be)

There are so many other amazing products which I will get into at a later date but if you are looking for a great hand cream then keep an eye out for this one.

Where can I find it:  Well I have seen them at DJ's and selected stores, so keep an eye out.

Afraid to wear backless dresses? Get rid of Bacne now!

Now that the weather is coming up to Summer I know there are some of you that cringe at the thought of people seeing your back. I know this is something people don't normally talk about, but I think this is important.
So many people suffer in silence from pimples on their back, well this is the solution.
I came across Clinique Anti-blemish solutions body spray $33 ages ago when I started getting a few spots on my back. I found it was really hard to find an appropriate product. Whats great about this spray is that works 360 degrees so whatever angle you need it for it will get there as the middle parts of your back can be quite hard to reach.

What I was told to do was to spray over the affected areas and then let it dry and then hop in the shower and wash it off, that easy!

The spray helps to reduce oil which leads to breakouts and will remarkable increase the condition of the skin in those areas.
They say to start only using it once a day and build up to twice a day but just keep an eye out on the condition of your skin as it can be very drying.

It doesn't smell pretty but this isn't a feel good product, it's a medicated spray and for that it does its job really well.

Get your fattest lashes with this mascara.

I know that if I am not wearing makeup to go out there is something about the feeling of having mascara on that makes me feel "done".
I like giving new mascaras a try each time one runs out and I have tried Maybelline ones in the past and have always had great success as they continually keep up with the trends and are looking at ways of making mascaras better.
Thats' when I decided to try Maybelline Colossal volume express $19.25 (I got mine from Priceline) I had seen the ads for this new mascara and was impressed by its claims.
I am rather lucky as I have quite full lashes but I really love having big, fat lashes.
What is great about this mascara is it gives you the crazy amounts of volume due to its collagen formula (what you say? Isn't that for face plumping?) well instead of restoring volume to your face it gives volume to your lashes.
The brush is designed to make sure every lash is coated and I find it hardly clumps.
The first time I used it I was pretty much blown away by my lashes and thought it looked like I had fake lashes on.
What's even better is there is now a waterproof version!!
I have gone back to try other mascaras but now no other compare to have crazy thick my lashes can be. I definitely think this is worth a try!

My experience of Laser Eye Surgery-How I finally let go of my glasses

If you have glasses and have ever considered laser eye surgery then please read this article to help put your mind at ease. (Sorry it's a bit long)

When I was 4 years old and my mum took my to the Optometrist I was so excited and I was wishing as hard as I could that my Doctor would say I needed glasses and I was right. Since then I have had glasses through to my teenage years. I was able to get contact lenses when I was 17 which was life changing but unfortunately when I was 18 I had two really bad bouts of conjunctivitis which destroyed one of the tear ducts in my eyes which meant my eyes couldn’t lubricate themselves enough to have contact lenses. I was devastated.  I had been told in my teenage years that when I was 21 years old I would be suitable for Laser eye surgery and the thought of never having to wear glasses ever again was too good to be true.

Due to the cost mainly it wasn’t until I was 24 years old that I was in a position to go for my first consultation with Perfect Vision Laser Eye Specialists. For me picking a company I wanted to go to was a no brainer, I had heard such amazing reports from Perfect Vision so I booked in.
When I arrived for my first consultation I was taken through a series of eye test with machines I had never seen before basically looking at different lights. These tested and measured many different aspects of my eye such as the width of my cornea. These all ensure that your eyes are a suitable candidate for laser eye surgery.

Then I met with my Ophthalmic Surgeon Dr Con Moshegov. Upon meeting Dr Moshegov I felt like I was immediately put at ease as he is so incredibly warm and friendly. He explained the procedure to me and after doing a few more tests said that yes I was a candidate for laser eye surgery. I had to watch a video in the lounge about the risks and possibly complications involved but I knew this was a step in the direction I wanted so badly. I was keen to book in.

On the day of my procedure (I organised a Friday as then I would have the whole weekend to recover) I got my dad to take me in as you need to have someone to be with you they recommend and I wore some comfy warm clothes and brought some big sunglasses. When I arrived to the surgery I was greeted by a lovely nurse who took me through to the gave me some valium tablets as this keeps you nice and calm through the procedure and also some panadol to lessen the irritation your eyes may feel. Once these had started to kick in and I was feeling rather happy I was taken into a dark room where they administered some eye drops which numb your eyes and also dilate your pupils. Then I sat with my eyes closed in the room whilst the eye drops kicked in then the procedure was ready to begin.

The lovely nurses took me into the surgery where Dr Moshegov was all prepped and seated in a chair and next to him was a long plastic bed which I was told to lay on. I was then rugged up with blankets and then was staring up at my Doctor.

The fantastic thing about Dr Moshegov is he explains EVERY step before and as he does it so I was completely aware of what was going to happen. The only uncomfortable thing I felt was when he puts what feels like a suction cap around your eye one at a time which last for about a minute and it feels like intense pressure not pain. The eye that isn’t being worked on is covered. All you see as the laser is on your eye basically is different kinds of dots of light from a red dot to what seems like fireworks, then everything goes black but you know this is going to happen and know that it won’t last for long. It’s not intimidating or scary and each eye is over so fast that it’s hard to believe it’s done.

A lot of apprehension I think comes from the fact that what if you move your eye? Well the computer controls the laser and it will detect if you move and stop the laser then the Doctor will help you to refocus your eye so that the laser can begin again. All the initial eye test that were done mean that the computer has a really good map of your eye.

After each eye is done he gives your eye a good rinse with saline and then you are able to get up and you’re done. When you stand up for the first time its like looking through Vaseline goggles everything is super blurry yet you know that through that haze you can see clearly. They put patches over your eyes and I put my sunnies on then they make sure you are aware of when to put all your different medicated drops in and then are ready to go home. The other thing I did notice straight away when I was walking out the clinic was that I could tell I could see in the distance but I couldn't see up close. Dr Moshegov explained that my eyes have never needed to use those muscles before and so had to learn how to see up close. Your eyes are an amazing organ as they learn how to see close up in a matter of hours.

Once I got home I went straight to sleep as I was still dozy from the Valium and when I awoke 2 hours later I could actually see really well. I even watched TV for a while with my family then when I was ready for bed I took the sleeping tablets that they gave me to ensure I had a good nights sleep and put on my protective eye patches so I don’t rub my eyes and off I went to sleep.
I think the only thing I found uncomfortable about the procedure is that when I went to go to sleep there was a lot of grittiness in my eyes which felt like sand. I was told this was perfectly normal but once the sleeping tablets kicked in you just sleep through it.

When I awoke the next day I went to reach for my glasses like I have had to all my life when I realised I could actually see. I sat up in bed and just stared at everything. I wanted to read everything at a distance because I could.
The  day after the procedure you are required to have a check up with the surgeon to make sure everything is ok and to see how your eyes are healing and then you have another check up 3 months later.
The only things I noticed post op was my eyes were quite sensitive to the glare and I had halos around lights initially but I was told this was all normal and would pass which it did.I could still function perfectly fine. I just had to wear sunglasses, ALOT.
It’s really important to use all the drops like they tell you which is easy enough and honestly hardly a hassle.
I was thoroughly happy with my results with Perfect Vision and would recommend them to anyone. They were incredibly professional and totally put my mind at ease.

I now have 20:20 vision in what was my bad eye and better than 20:20 vision in my better eye.

If you have thought about getting it done but where scared, there is no need to be. Please give laser eye surgery a try, it will honestly change your life.
