If you are injured, learn to work it!

Being the silly person I am, I hurt my wrist yesterday, Doc says I have tendinitis :( So I have to take lots of pain meds and keep my wrist strapped for a few days. Just because I have to wear a bandage doesn't mean I have to look like a cripple! Workin it!

See what I mean?

Why Nail Polish Completes Your Look

I love my nail polish, honeslty, I wear nail polish every...single...day... I think that it really finishes off my outfit and is an extra accessory.

I have so many friends who have only a handful of polishes, the standard, ballet pink, hot pink, red, cream and a dark plum colour.

I on the other hand love to experiment. To give you an idea, here are my polishes...

There are so many more I want to get, I am yet to delve into the greys, nude, brown, khaki colours which I know will be HUGE for Winter, but that is another story.

Next I thought I would provide some inspiration of celebs workin the coloured nail polishes. So you know that by having their nails coloured means completing their look.

One of the looks I really love from these pics is the navy nail polish, yet another one to add to my collection!

I think the message to take from this post, is have fun with your nails, experiment!

What do you think?

Hair Makeover- The difference it can really make

My gorgeous best friend is well, stunning... For years she had bleached her hair and had decided to let it grow out to her natural blonde hair. Going through some big changes in her life like we see many celebrities post break up their hair is usually the first thing to change.
I think it's great. So when my gorgeous friend decided she might be ready for a change I whole heartedly supported her. When she asked me where she should go, I automatically suggested Oscar and Oscar in Sydney City.

If you haven't heard of Oscar and Oscar before, I highly recommend you check out their website. These guys are the hairdressers the celebs go to. If you are in need of a new, modern look then it is worth the investment to go to such a cutting edge hairdresser and then from there you can get your normal hairdresser to maintain the look.
The look my friend wanted to go for was the long-bob or lob which is incredibly popular right now. It is fresh, hot, and has endless styling options.

Here are some before pictures...

And now for the fantastic AFTER shots.

I think this has made such a huge difference. Not only does a new haircut give you a completely different look but it can also really be a massive boost of confidence.

My friend completely raved on about how amazing the service was and I think considering the difference it has made, if you are after a new look, leaving to the absolute professionals is the way to go.

Hey Guys,
I hope you all had a wonderful Australia Day! I had a wonderful time at Big Day Out in Sydney but, my god was it hot!
I drank litres and litres of water all day and made sure I kept my hat on and sunscreen was slathered on numerous times during the day.
I thought I would share with you some pics from the day.

FESTIVAL Fashion Inspiration

Now I know technically the Australian Festival Season began a while ago for many but for me and many others it begins this week. What is this week? Why, it's the biggest festival of all... BIG DAY OUT!! I have been going to Big Day Out's on and off since I was a teenager and let me tell you, it really lives up to its name! I am off to the Sydney Location at Homebush, it has so many stages and so many lives bands it is always a tough choice trying to decide who to see.
For me, the toughest choice is deciding what to wear. Not just as a fashion thing but also as a practical option as it will be 40 degrees plus and being out in the sun all day will be harsh and unforgiving.
I have been looking for some inspiration and here are some of my options. Beautiful Jess Hart (left) looks cute as a button in her wide brimmed hat. The Simple side pony I am thinking of copying plus turning it into a plait as it will be. that. hot!
Here are some others...

Having your hair out and wavy is a fantastic idea, in theory, in reality with the heat, sweat, peoples bodies, dancing, general ickiness of that kind of temperature means it is completely inpractical. Hair is best up or in plaits!

Another important consideration is sunnies! As it will be hot, hot, hot, not to mention bright. I usually check out stores like Dotti, Sportsgirl, Cotton on for sunnies as I am not going to take a good expensive pair as moshing tends to damage sunnies! Not to mention when it going dark and me losing them. This year I have opted for a tortoishelle fake ray bans wayfarers. They go with the look I am after.

Next is a hat which I think is such a given. I know that towards afternoon remembering sunscreen becomes very difficult for many people (I will discuss this in a sec) so wearing a hat protects your face at least which is tres important. No one needs a few extre wrinkles just so they can look cool huh? I wanted a hat like Jess Hart, but alas I had not enough time to search. In stead I am going with a straw cowgirl hat as it provides wide brim sun protection also for the back of my neck!

When it comes to make up and sun protection this is a toughie, yes you want to look cool but with temperatures this hot and such a LOOOOOOG day it will slide off your face faster then you can say "where is the boiler room?". I will be opting for a tinted moisturiser with SPF I like Hissyfit Saving Face which is their hero product. I find it provides some coverage as well as having SPF 30.

After I apply that I will apply a translucent powder to prevent as much shine as it can and just mattifys my skin. I will apply a cheek stain (I love Era Perez Carrot Cheek and Lip Stain).

Then I will apply a powder bronzer and blush to sit on top of the stain. I will only apply a tiny bit of eyeliner as I have seen way too many girls at the end of the night with eyeliner streaming down their faces, so bad girls, so bad... Then I will finish it off with WATERPROOF mascara! This way it will not run down my face or I will wipe it off, once I worked this little gem out, my god I was looking so much hotter at the end of night! Haha!

Whatever you do girls, please, pretty please do not forget to put on sunscreen! Absolutely slather it on before you leave to go to the festival and also during the day. A lot of brands do little travel bottles which you can get from the likes of Priceline but if you forget or can't find a small bottle, don't forget St John Ambulance is there to help you, with water and plently of sunscreen! So please protect yourself. A very close friend of mine ended up in sick bay all last year BDO with heat stroke and many others fall under that trap so be careful!
Lastly, fake tan... this is one I am constantly in debate over. Last year I faked tan like a good girl as I didn't live near the beach then so I had been in the sun, um never. Do you know what I found, it is so stinking hot that my tan just sweated right off! By the end of the night I was as pastie as I started and my white singlet not so white... I know we all want to be hot and tanned but I know this year much to my boyfriends delight I am giving it a miss!

My message to girls is this, KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid! No one will care if you are not done up to the nines, just be yourself, relax, stay cool, drink tonnes of water and look after each other!

Have a fanastic time!!

I will post pics post festival!!

INTERVIEW with David Babaii for WildAid!

I recently was lucky enough to meet the legendary David Babaii hairdresser to the stars who considers Hollywood A-Listers such as Kate Hudsen, Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Kidman and so many more as his clients and friends. I heard that he was in Australia to do Nicole Kidmans hair for Oprah! Hard life!

I got the opportunity to meet him in person and was just dying to ask him a million questions!
He gave a talk to start with and spoke about hair trends that we could look out for.
He said that the trends we would all be wanting were soft bohemian hair, gone are the perfect ghd curls to make way for brushed out curls.

Here are some of the questions I was lucky enough to ask:

What are the trends for hair colour?: More of a darker colour, I took Nicole (Kidman) back to a redder colour, I like a little bit more depth in colour so if it's blonde it's not platnium, like what you have got going on, I like. (oh thanks!) If you do something it's to a minimal amount. With all my girls I like to bring it back down a bit like with Kate (Hudsen) I brought her hair back down a bit so she's not too platnium blonde with Scarlett (Johansson) I brought her back down but that's just for now, with Summer that might change, you want more of a sunkissed kind of a feeling.

What has been your biggest career challenge?:
Developing this line, making this line was really challenging, I worked on this line for 3 maybe 4 years. I have these items out in the range but I have another 47 items waiting to come out. I could have brought them out faster if I didn't care. I want to make sure that everything is just right.

I have used your shampoo before and really liked it.
A little tip, you should use the hydrating shampoo and the voluminsing together, its a little trick I use.

How do you come up with the ingredients?
We met with so many different people and labs, I wanted stuff that was exotic, I love exotic. I love to know that in this bottle is something that was found in Uganda or I have this new algae that comes from this island in Africa. I want those ingredients that no one has.

Normally when you see the back of a bottle there are all these chemicals which I have no idea what they are so I have no idea what I am putting onto my hair.
I have this new one coming out which is Betani (I probably spelt it wrong, sorry) Clay from deep down in the ocean from the volcano and that's what I am using for deep conditioner, it is amazing for the hair.

What advice would you give to women to looking after their hair?:
I think it's important to wash your hair, I think it is so important to rinse really well. The other thing is to take pre-natal vitamins, all my clients are on them, I don't know if you guys have them here, it gives you the nutrients you need, you need to make sure you are taking care of your hair from the inside not just the outside. (I think taking that advice on board is so important, I use shampoo and conditioners every 2 days and If I don't rinse well I would get a lot of build up in my hair making it greasier faster and wouldn't give my hair the kind of volume I like as the product would drag it down.)

How does looking after your hair change as you age?:
You have to do more, I think that with age you need to have different things to maintain it. If you over bleach your hair, over process your hair you will pay for it later. It is so important to take great care of your hair now whilst your young.

Since meeting with the fabulous David Babaii I have been trying some of his products I have been hanging to tell you all about.

1. Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner -$22.95 each.

I loved these from the moment I opened the lid as they smell like a tropical cocktail. It smells like pineapple, mmmm pina colada. It has, get this, rich cucupuacu butter, blue algae and wild orchid to really, deeply hyrdate your hair. The conditioner is just as amazing and my hair feels so soft, silky and smells divine.

The other product I have been loving is the Hair Polish -$26.50. This is quite the little best kept secret, honestly I am in love!
It contains amazing ingredients as always such as exclusive blend of ten natural extracts, including Nettle, Orchid, Oat, Cucumber and White Ginger. This product can de-frizz your hair, make it shiny, smooth, it hydrates your hair, gosh it's a hard worker!
You can use it either on wet or dry hair and wow, talk about a shine factor! If you are going to be heat styling your hair this product is great to use before hand as it protects your hair against the damages of using your beloved GHD.

The last great thing about David Babaii for Wildaid products: All procucts are free of Sulfates, Parabeens, Petrochemicals. They are against animal testing. They also donate 10% of proceeds to WildAid the global wildlife conservation organisation. You can find out more by visitng http://www.wildaid.org/

Change the way you brush your teeth forever

I have always been a manual brusher, it isn't that I haven't want to try electric toothbrushes, I think it just is something I haven't ever gotten around to trying. It wasn't until this toothbrush came along that that I really desperately wanted to upgrade.
This toothbrush is the Oral B Triumph® 5000 with Wireless SmartGuide-$199. Compared to other electric toothbrushes, this is the rolls royce. Gosh where to start, ok it comes with 3 brush heads to be able to cater for your needs. There is a Floss Action Electric Brush Head which I have been using religously, there is a Sensitive Electric Brush Head and a Pro Bright Electric Brush Head to help whiten your teeth also.
The brush is cordless which I really like and the charge will last up to 10 hours which is a long time in brushing time.
What is so unique though is the little computer which comes with it. As soon as you turn the brush on it sends a message to the little computer which times your brushing. As you all should know you should be brushing your teeth for a minimum of 2 minutes. I know I am terrible at following this at times, I am always in a rush in the morning and get lazy at night but with this brush I often go way over the 2 minutes. Each area of your mouth is sectioned and timed and when the 30 seconds is up it pauses briefly so you move to the next section. It cleans so effectively that within days of using it I already noticed a huge change in the slight discolouration of my teeth, they are looking whiter then any toothpaste or home whitening treatment I have used lately has done.
The monitor also warns you if you are brushing too hard and can tell you the difference with the way in which it is brushing. Is it brushing in a way that is suitable for your gums, to whiten your teeth, for sensitive teeth or general brushing?

It comes with a travel case and also a storage case for each little tooth brush head which is incredibly handy, loves that!

I love that feeling of clean that you get when you visit a dentist (minus the pain)

My teeth feel less sensitive, whiter making me feel more comfortable with my smile.

I consider looking after my teeth an investment so paying $199 for a toothbrush isn't something I worry about as I want to ward off hefty dentist bills for as long as possible.

To Find Your Nearest Stockist: You can search here or call 1800 148 022 or check out Big W, Priceline, Shaver Shop and other selected retailers.

Do you use an electric or manual toothbrush?

Got Blonde Hair? Treat it well with Wella

Now that I have blonde in my hair, I know how important it is to protect the colour in my hair. I was given these Wella products to use and I love them. The products I was given was Wella Professional BioTouch Colour Reflex Shampoo-$24, Wella Professional Bio Touch Colour Protection Rinse-$22 and Wella Professional Biotouch Colour Protection Intensive Mask- $22
When I used the shampoo the first thing I noticed was the burnt orange  colour the scent reminds me of a salon shampoo. It contains Chamomile to brighten the blonde in your hair which I found visibly noticable.
The conditioner is white in consistency and I left it in my hair whilst I washed myself and then rinsed. As I was rinsing my hair I could already feel my hair being more hydrated then before. The key ingredients are vitamin E and apricot oil which is why my hair feels so great.
The last product the treatment was the icing on the cake. Biotouch Colour Protection Intensive Mask- $22 turns your hair from normal to pure silk. To use this I hopped out of the shower and towel dried my hair and applied a small heap into my hand and rubbed generously through my hair. Then using a wide tooth comb I combed the treatment thouroughly through my hair and left it in for several minutes. The difference in my hair is amazing. When I rinse it out I can't tell you enough about how soft and strong my hair feels. The colour of my hair is so vibrant so I use this twice a week. With all the swimming I have been doing (yeh I know it's a hard life) my hair is just lapping this up.

Wella Professional are great salon only products, used by the professionals so you know you can trust they will deliver on what they performance.

Goals and dreams for 2011

So this is where I want to share with you where I am at and what my plans are for 2011. You know how the saying goes if you write your goals down, or tell people then you have to stick to them!
I love January, it is like there is just endless possibilities of what you can accomplish and I feel so optimistic about life. I guess that is why gym memberships soar right about now huh?

So what are my resolutions:

1. Lose some of my "extra" kilos and get my fitness back!
How am I doing this? This is a big thing for me to admit especially online to anyone that can read this... I joined Weight Watchers. I always thought Weight Watchers was for really overweight people, same with Jenny Craig but my boyfriends mother in law recetntly had joined and explained this brand new system they have just brought in which has completely changed Weight Watchers. Bascially it works on a point system. Each food is worth a certain number of points and you are allowed to eat a certain amount of points per day, which for me is 29. Over the course of the week there is an additonal 49 points you can eat whenever you like so you can have a few drinks on a night out or a piece of cake, that sort of thing. The great thing is with this new system fruit and veggies are worth no points (with a couple of exceptions) so so far so good I have already lost 2.4kg! You can attend the meetings each week to get weighed in and then they have a chat about a particular weight loss topic and a general discussion about how everyone is doing. For me due to health problems mid last year there are a lot of foods I can no longer eat and I got to a point where I just felt stuck, stuck for foods I could actually enjoy, and foods that can help me to lose weight. This I thought could be the answer. I will document on here as to my progress and let you know how I am going, especially for any of you that may have been thinking you want to do the same.

2. Save money for my trip to Thailand for a friends wedding in June and my overseas trip 2012.
How am I doing this? My boyfriend and I worked out our budget for our trips and worked out how much we would need to save every month and will have that amount automatically direct debited from my account when I get paid! That way I won't spend it. Yes I will be having more quiet nights this year but I have to focus on the end goal.

So what are your new years resoltions?
