Lauren Conrad does Ombre Nails and now you can too!

Oh LC, I love when you bring out something new and inspiring that instantly makes us all want to try it. Sometimes there are trends sitting in the back waiting just waiting for a celeb to jump on the bandwagon and BANG huge popularity! Think back to when LC wore baby blue nails for instance...

Her newest trend to try is Ombre nails... or a graduated mani.

What does this involve? Well it is taking 5 colours from light pastel to darker and then black and gradually getting darker on each finger and repeating on other hand. There have been a few trends popping up of people having one finger a different colour or the whole hand 10 different colours for each finger which are a fun way to brighten up your mani.

It is super fun and no reason why you can't try it too!

Here are the colours I used:

And my finishing product!!!!!

To die, right?

Have you tried this look before? Will you try it? Love it/ Hate it? I want to know...

Why Nail Polish Completes Your Look

I love my nail polish, honeslty, I wear nail polish every...single...day... I think that it really finishes off my outfit and is an extra accessory.

I have so many friends who have only a handful of polishes, the standard, ballet pink, hot pink, red, cream and a dark plum colour.

I on the other hand love to experiment. To give you an idea, here are my polishes...

There are so many more I want to get, I am yet to delve into the greys, nude, brown, khaki colours which I know will be HUGE for Winter, but that is another story.

Next I thought I would provide some inspiration of celebs workin the coloured nail polishes. So you know that by having their nails coloured means completing their look.

One of the looks I really love from these pics is the navy nail polish, yet another one to add to my collection!

I think the message to take from this post, is have fun with your nails, experiment!

What do you think?

Merry Christmas EVERYONE!!

Well it is my last day of work, finally!!! Bring on the Holidays!
Here is my next attempt at Christmas nails which I was inspired by the gorgeous Elise from Stuffthatibought and the Nail File, who is quite the nail expert!

I bought a Rimmel "Red Carpet" red and used Orly "Luxe" and I used Elise "sticky tape" technique.

I absolutely love them and I think I will def be doing a different version for New Years!!

But for now I am off to eat, drink and be merry and get lots of pressies!!

Talk soon!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

I wouldn't be much of a beauty blogger if I hadn't found a way to get some Christmas cheer into my beauty life! My first attempt at it is through nail design, this is also is my first attempt at nail art, ever!
I decided to go with something simple such as the dots in Christmas colours.

For colours I used:
White: Essie Ballet Slippers
Green: China Glaze Four Leaf Clover
Red: China Glaze Heli-Yum

To do this yourself: I painted my nails white and then waited til they were almost dry. Then I used a metal skewer to do the dots. On a piece of paper I put a dollop of the colours which I then gently did each row. I waited a really long time (in nail drying time) before I paint 2 top coats to seal in the colours.

I want to experiment with other styles for Christmas as I think it's fun and festive! I have had many compliments so I encourage you to try it out!

The truth about healing your nails after having acrylics...

So I this year I had fake acrylic nails for about 7 months and one decided I couldn't be bothered anymore and wanted to be able to chop and change my nails as often as I like.
Now I am going through all the dramas of growing them out and I wanted to share with you a few things about what is like to grow out your nails and some tips and tricks for you to remember.
See the picture to the left to see the actual condition that my nails are in whilst growing out. I know it's not pretty but if you look close enough you can see I am about half way.
  1. Whilst growing your nails out, keep them short, I mean non-existent nails short! I learnt this the hard way as your nails are so weak and thin right now and will break and break a lot of the nail off which means you are left with not only a painful nail but one that looks even worse. Every time I go to paint my nails I trim them.
  2. Everytime I paint my nails I use a hardener nail polish as my base coat to help strengthen my nails.
  3. This is just a waiting game, eventually your nails will totally grow out and then you can start a fresh with nice strong nails again, but it just takes time. I just make sure I keep my nails painted to cover up the fact that they are a bit flakey and that's it!

Katy Perry and her good enough to eat nails...

Katy Perry or is it Katy Brand just posted this pic of her nails on Twitter tagged Sprinkle nails. Don't know if this is a trend I am willing to run out there and try but then again Katy has been known to push the boundary of nail out. See other Twitter pictures below of her wacky nails.

Sprinkles anyone? Fairy nails?
Lace Tips?
To celebrate her man's one year anniversary...
What do you think? Cute, inspiring or just a little too weird?

Repairing my nails and looking pretty all at once!

My poor nails are deep in recovery mode from having acrylic nails on them all year and so I am working hard at rebuilding them and making them stronger.
I have employed a whole host of products to take on this task.
My base coat I have been using to strengthen my nails is by Manicare called Gentle Hardener (See below) I apply this every time I paint my nails.

This nail polish pictured on my nails by Sally Hansen is called Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in First Blush, not only is a great colour but also further strengthens my nails.

The only thing about this colour is that I have to apply 3 coats to make sure it isn't see through but that's ok, I still really like it.

On Top of my nail polish I have been using Sally Hansen Inst-dry Fast Dry Nail Colour. See picture below. What I really like about this product, other than it makes my colours dry really fast so less chances of mistakes, but it has a huge brush, making application quick and easy.

These products were all bought at Priceline.
