Thailand Wedding Pics and Tips

I thought I would share some pics of the amazing wedding days including makeup and hair pics as well as some tips and tricks.

First of all I wanted to show you pics of my hair I had professionally done for the wedding. I am really not good at all at updo's and in Thailand for a beach wedding I needed it up as we were given hand fans yet I knew it wouldn't be enough. I wouldn't do do a one sided do as my dress is one sided.

From the front and with make up on
I wanted to keep the makeup really natural in case it all slid off my face. I primed my skin with my Arbonne Primer and then applied my foundation in a thicker layer with my fingers as it was easiest. Then I set the crap out of it with my Face Of Australia Translucent Powder.
On my eyes I used a really soft gold on my eyelids to match my dress and then a thick winged black eyeliner. It was all about being glowy!

The final product
We ended up having to change my hair, I wanted to have curls in my side pony tail but they wouldn't hold. So we did a messy plait instead, total hottness.

The beautiful beach wedding
The happy married couple
My man and I all glammed up
The blushing bride and I- How cute is her dress!
Full length shot of my dress I am absolutely in love with!
The most awesome cake!
We all had such a wonderful day and I felt so honoured to be a part of their wonderful day.

I promise to resume back to normal beauty reviewing posts tomorrow! Boy, do I have a lot to tell you!

What do you think?

Gorgeous huh?

I will also be posting some blogs with post holiday advice too.
First up though is a sneaky peak at the beauty products I bought whilst away. I must say I was really dissapointed with duty free shopping the savings were not that great, I would rather buy online from the US.
Just a sneak peak and I will be reviewing them all soon!

If there are any products specifically you want me to talk more about please let me know or just search for them as I have blogged about most.

GUEST POST-How to look after your hair holiday style!

Yesterday was my first holiday guest post all about nail care and what nail polishes to bring for a tropical holiday from Elise from The Nail File which you can view here.

Today I bring you a very essential holiday post all about hair care. I thought, hmm who best to ask about hairdo's to do when I am away and what I should keep in mind for hair care and naturally I thought of Christina from amazing Hair Romance. Since I have just dyed and bleached my hair it is exceptionally important, ok enough from me and onto Christina...

So Miss Chew is off on a tropical getaway while I’m stuck in Sydney shivering. Fair? Not really but I’m not bitter. I want her to look gorgeous on her holiday, especially as she has worked so hard all to year to be in such fabulous shape. She definitely deserves a break.

So Miss Chew (and those of you somewhere warm or going on holidays), take my advice.

The most important thing to do on holidays is to have fun and relax. You still want to look good but with a minimum of fuss so here are a few tips to improve your chances of having a hot holiday romance.

   1. Embrace your natural hair – don’t fight it. Humidity happens. Relax. Go with the wave and see where it takes you. Holidays are great time to experiment with new hair dos.
   2. Rinse your hair after swimming in the pool. No need to wash it but just a rinse in cool water will save your hair from the chlorine. Blondes know the green danger pools present to our hair, but chlorine is drying for all hair types and can damage your hair.
   3. Use mini travel size bottle for your favourite hair products. This saves on space but it also means you can carry it in your hand luggage. I once checked in hair products in my suitcase only to arrive to find my hair serum exploded and covered everything. Learn from my mistake and transfer a small amount into a travel pot for your hand luggage.

What to pack?

   1. Hair Pins – I can do anything with 5 bobby pins, and so can you with my new ebook – 30 Days of Twist & Pin Hairstyles (ok, got the plug in, now back to the hair!)
   2. Leave in conditioner is a brilliant invention. If you have wavy, curly or frizzy hair you should always have this in your beach bag. A spritz on your hair after a swim means you can cut out the middleman and go straight from the pool to the bar.
   3. Invest in a good hat. Don’t follow the trends, pick one that suits your face. A good hat is the quickest hair fix on earth.

Easy holiday hairstyles
   1. Braids. I know we’ve seen this look for a while but it’s perfect for hiding that fuzzy fringe when you can’t get to your straightener. I love a French braid that follows your hairline but only braid in sections from the front. Then pin all your hair into a loose, low ponytail or chignon on the side.
   2. Ponytails. Don’t just bunch all your hair in the middle – try a high slicked pony or a low side pony. Grab a small section from the bottom of your ponytail and wrap it around your hair elastic to cover it and pin underneath for a fashionable finish.
   3. Do nothing! You’re on holidays! Enjoy yourself. Give your hair a break too. We style our hair so much we forget what its natural finish is. Go wild, you might just like it.

And now some drool worthy pics...

Good lord it's like hair porn, isn't she amazing?

So I am armed with enough pins to poke someones eye out and a great leave in conditioner and a great hat! She really inspires me to want to try different hairdos.

What's your best tip for hot holiday hair?

MyCurl, my curls my way

I don't know if you noticed or were wondering but in my blog I posted about my hair makeover, oh you missed it? You can catch up here. I was sporting some wicked curls and how they were made possible was using the MyCurl. The MyCurl is a nifty little invention designed for girls who aren't the best at curling their hair... umm hello that is me!
These are quite small like a handwidth and the black part is quite solid with the reds like thick rubber bands. You place this in your hair horizontal where you want the curls to start...
Excuse the no makeup/ weird expression on my face...

And closer...
To give me bigger curls we only used 2 curlers as the more you use the smaller the curls.
Once they are into position you grab your GHD or whatever straightening device you use and clamp onto the hair which secures the curls into place and voila, curly hair!

In the pouch you are given you receive 8 MyCurls and they have videos and instructions as well.
Note the curls, we didn't keep them in for long so I could have soft, brushed out curls
To find out more information about the My Curl you can visit their website here or call 1800 882 174.
To buy one yourself will set you back $89 which I think it pretty good considering all the uses you get out of them and also how quick you can curl your hair.
Have you tried the MyCurl? Would you consider trying this option?

GUEST POST- What 3 Nail Lacquers to bring on a tropical holiday!

Since I am going to Thailand in just a few days I have been deep into packing mode and thought I would take the opportunity to get some advice from some ladies in the know as to hair care and also what nail polishes to bring, seriously this was so hard for me, I have so many and only wanted to bring 3!

So today is my first guest post from Elise of The Nail File and Stuff That I Bought 2 of my all time favourite blogs. It was Elise's blog that got me first into blogging as I was absolutely in love with her writing style and pretty much wanted to buy anything she mentioned! Talk about a lemming! :)

So take it away Elise:

So, you're going on a tropical holiday huh? Lucky you! This is definitely one time when you want to keep it simple and easy - why waste time doing your nails when there are cocktails to be drunk and hammocks to be laid in.

If you're going to be hitting the sand and donning your best kaftan, this is definitely the time for bright polish. My number one hit pick here is a bright coral. Coral is universally flattering, great for mani's and pedi's, and goes with all outfits. Something like Essie Coral Reef, OPI Conga-Line Coral or China Glaze High Hopes are all good bets.

OPI-Conga Line Coral
Not a coral fan? That's ok. Now is also a good time to bust out your brightest pink. Leave the pastel at home and grab an eye-catcher like Zoya Dana, OPI Miami Beet or Ulta3 Pink Pistol. Fun, festive and guaranteed to make you smile when you look down and see your toes amongst the sand.

Zoya-Dana
If maintaining a coloured mani seems like hard work while you're on vacay, pack a clear gloss or a neutral like OPI's Samoan Sand for an elegant and simple finish. Alternatively, buff your nails smooth and use the buffer to create some shine. If all that seems like hard work, have a Shellac mani before you go away so you don't have to worry!
OPI Samoan Sands
Make sure you pick a polish with lots of pigment so you only have to do one, max two, coats. And pack a quick dry top coat like Sally Hansen InstaDri - this baby is a life saver!
Sally Hanse Inta-Dri (I have bought this already)
My last word of advice - leave the bottle of nail polish remover at home and take an Orly nail polish remover pot. Much quicker - more time for you to spend in the bar!

Thanks Elise that has helped me so much and made my decisions a lot easier.

I just wanted to thank Elise so much for this post, I hope it can help other people as much as it helped me!

So what do you think? What colours would you take away if you could only bring 3?

Balayage Baby! I jumped the bandwagon!

So the time finally came for me to have my hair makeover, I know I have been banging on about it for weeks and yet I was still so confused as to what to do. I decided to leave it to the professional and see what they had to say.
I decided to book in to see hair dresser Colin Bond who is now a Personal Hairdresser which means he comes to me...

"A reputation for creating beautiful hair: For the past six years, Colin Bond has travelled extensively as a personal hairdresser. He's worked for world-renowned hair companies, numerous fashion magazines and as a session stylist on TV commercials. Born and bred in east London, Colin finished his hair studies at the London College of Fashion and mastered his cutting skills with Daniel Galvin. He's spent many years as an educator at Toni & Guy in both Australia and England, teaching cutting techniques, working as an international educator and conducting seminars and live demonstrations for colour and styling products such as Tigi and L'Oreal"

So I knew I was in the right hands. We spoke about the tone of my skin and which c0lours would and wouldn't work for me. He said that I have cool colour tones which means red colours do not suit me, thank god as I had thought the same thing for ages. We agreed that balayage would be great for me and so this look (right) is what we ended up going for.

This was a really big change for me and getting balayage is a process which does take a long time as you need to dye the hair one block colour and once that has done he sectioned off the top layer of my hair and then paints on the bleach to different sections of my hair. There are only certain hairdressers who know how to do this technique as you need to make sure the hair blends well.

So here are the before and afters...

My "Before" with my blonde highlights
and the after...

It is very different and I love the shade of chocolate brown on top and the colours underneath are just gorgegous, it's hard to really see all the colours without daylight.

It was so easy to have a hairdresser come into my house to do my hair and I am just so happy with the results.
To contact Colin Bond yourself you can find more info on his website http://www.colinbond.net/

Plum is the word for Winter with Arbonne

When the weather gets cooler I find myself moving away from the fake tan and embracing my pale skin and enhancing my features with darker plum lips, this year is no exception.

As I am on the road all day I sometimes don't get lunch til 2 or 3pm let alone at all so the last thing I ever have time to do is freshen up my lipstick, sad but true. So I am all about the long wearing makeup baby.

Introducing the Arbonne's Long Wearing Lipstick in Jam-$32. I really do love this brand and it was their translucent powder that made me fall in love with them in the first place.

This lipstick is the perfect plum shade for me and I have been consistently putting it to the test to see how long wearing it really is. When I wear this lipstick and put it on first thing in the morning I usually get til 1 or 2pm before I need a touch up so really only needing to reapply once during the day is a winner for me.

The lipstick is extremely moisturising as well which really surprised me and glides on so smooth which makes me love it that little bit more.

My FOTD for a Hens Night!

I thought I would share with you today a FOTD which I did for my friend hens night (who is getting married in Thailand-for those following at home). I branched out from what I would normally do and since it is Winter and I was wearing a black dress I thought statement eyemakeup is worth it.

These are my peacock eyes...

I wanted the look to be quite soft on the eyes not too bold and overpowering. I kept my lips soft in a muted pink and really amped up the blush which I used NARS Orgasm-naturally, that added shimmer in it makes a huge difference at night.

Once I had finished the eye shadow I applied a thick liquid eyeliner on top as well.

I used a different translucent powder to the one I had the shocking expierence with which you can read here

This new translucent powder is by current hot favourite brand Face of Australia and it has restored my face in Transulcent powders. See the colour of the powder is flesh coloured? The last one I used looked white so it went on white.

In the above pics there is not even the slightest hint of visible powder and my makeup lasted well into the morning *cough cough*.

The other point I wanted to make is the size of the jar is massive, this baby is going to last me donkeys years which is fab news! Again so much better than the last one I was using.

One of my gorgeous friends Celia- and see no white makeup on me!
What do you think?

Did you enjoy my FOTD post? I think I might start doing more.

Hair Makeover Inspiration

So this Saturday I am finally getting my haircut. I know this is such a terrible confession as I am normally so diligent with getting my hair cut each 5-8weeks but I have not had my hair cut in 6 months. I know, I know I can hear your gasps from here...So instead of just getting a trim not only am I in desperate need of that but by golly I need some colour, my regrowth is about 10cm long and I feel like other than my hair being long which I want, I have no shape to my hair style any more. Think of me like a blank canvas!

So I have been thinking long and hard about what in the heck do I want to do with my hair. I know I want to keep it long and still no fringe (I had one for ages and I am loving long layers at the front) so It is more about the colour do I go lighter, stay light, go darker... all of the above???

At this point I thought I would submit some inspiration images and see what you all thought?

I have enlisted a really fabulous hairdresser for my "makeover" on Saturday and I will post the before and afters then!

I love her soft Ballayage going from Darker at the roots to lighter
I love her honey brown which I like so much more than a reddy brown
Then there is Miranda "never put a foot wrong" Kerr who really nails this brown
So are you sort of seeing the direction I think I want to go to? I want to go a little more warm brown with more ashy honey blonde undertones then red undertones.

So I guess we shall just wait and see.

What do you think I should do?
