Where to apply eye cream correctly and my current fave!

Now, I would think I wouldn't need to tell you, kind reader, about how important eye creams are, as I sit up all night thinking "please, please make sure my readers are putting on their eye cream" (honestly I do) but what worries me more so is that you might not be applying them correctly. Not applying eye creams correctly can lead to bruising the area and darker circles and god only knows what else, truly it can be so bad for you. The skin around your eye area is so super duper thin and sensitive that it needs to get treated as gently as you would a baby duckling, so I am going to share with you my top tips...
First off when you apply eye cream please do so with your ring finger, why? Well your ring finger has the smallest amount of pressure of all your fingers and you are less likely to go heave handed.
Next DO NOT pull on the area, bad! Bad! Bad! I have shown you a diagram (sorry about the etch-a-sketch appearance) of where you should apply the eye cream, you do not, as what was commonly known need to apply it all over your eye lid and all underneath your eye -so keep your mitts away.
Notice that in the picture you are applying the cream along your bone lines so above your eye lid and underneath your eye, feel those bones now... do it..... Your natural body heat will actually work the product to the areas right up under your eye and on your eye lid, your body is clever like that.
The next point is when you apply it you go from the inner corner near your nose and outwards, never back in. This acts like lymphatic drainage on your sinuses and you don't want to go pushing all that fluid back, it can also decrease puffy eyes! Win!
When I apply my eye cream I almost dab it on actually ever so gently, as I want my eye area looking as free of bags and wrinkles for as long as possible, don't you too? I remember watching an episode of Sex and the City when Carrie was swanning around her apartment getting ready for bed and all inner monologue like and she was applying eye cream in this exact dabbing like motion, no rubs or pulls there!

Now on to the products- my current fave right now is the newish Benefit B.Right It's Potent Eye Cream-$58.  I love this little gem, not only is it really easily absorbed and with no scent, but it doesn't still my eyes and it keeps fine lines at bay.
This is what Benefit have to say: 'It's Potent' Eye Cream contains a peptide complex known to help restore elasticity and firmness, a blend of hydrating botanical extracts including apple extract, known to help boost collagen, and loquat extract, known to help protect the skin from free radical damage.

I have been using this product for months now and I love it, my eyes love it too, for me, this really is a stand out in the whole skincare collection, which I will tell you more about soon.

So now you all know how to correctly apply your eye creams, I hope this has been helpful!

I haven't done a tips and tricks blog in a while, I apologise for that and I will try do more. If there is a topic in particular you would like me to blog about, please let me know.

Will you all be applying your eye cream properly now?

You can find Benefit at selected Myer and David Jones or online at www.adorebeauty.com.au

Send those eye bags a packing with Gernetic!

This little baby is quite possibly the saviour product of the party season!

Why is that? Well, thanks for asking, this product is responsible for decreasing those pesky little bags under your eyes that set up shop this time of year. With all this lack of sleep due to many parties it really can show under your eyes.

How do you use it? Well each morning when you are feeling particularily sleepy and it is showing you apply this masque on freshly cleansed skin under your eyes, I extend it right out the outter corner of my eyes and leave it on for 15 minutes. I pop it on then get dressed or have brekkie, that sort of thing. Then with a damp cotton bud I gently wipe away. Now this may sting a little bit, but it wasn't enough to bother me.

How does it work? It actually encourages lymphatic drainage which takes the puffiness out of those bags!
It's active ingredients include artichoke and wild camomile (not what I would have thought of) but for me, it makes a huge difference, it has saved me on so many occasions.

You can find Gernetic products in beauty salons or by looking here.

I really think that this is a nifty little product to keep in your beauty cabinet.

An eye creme to soothe, heal and repair your beautiful eyes, thanks Burt's Bees!

What I would love to talk to you about is this delightful little eye creme. I have been absolutely hanging to tell you about this post since the very first time I placed it around my eyes but being the good blogger I am I waiting patiently to see out my 2 week trial to see the results before posting this blog.
I can tell you one thing, my opinion of this eye creme has not once differed from my first use.

The eye creme I am referring to is none other then Burt's Bees Radiance Eye Creme with Royal Jelly-$34.95.

The list of wonderful ingredients
My last eye creme has actually run out and I was as keen as mustard to try a Burt's Bees one especially considering how much I have loved each and every other product that I have tried.

The beautiful little pot of heaven
My favourite ingredient? Why the Rosehip oil of cause!
Rosehip oil is a little joy, not only does it nourish and hydrate your skin but it improves the condition of fine lines so I know I am in good hands.

When you apply the cream you will notice that it is only very subtly naturally fragranced and there are no additional smells which I love as I am not a fan of fragranced creams on my face unless they are beautiful oils.

The cream blends in well with your skin and I notice it feels so hydrated for a long time after using it. Not only has it made my eyes feel amazing after and awake but the condition of the skin around my eyes feels great.

I make sure I use mine morning and night and you only need a tiny, little bit as it spreads far.

I will be using this little baby til it all runs out. I highly encourage anyone to try this cream as it's not only effective but feels amazing.

EYE spy with my little eye...some amazing eyecream, that's what!

Here I go again jumping on my Clinique bandwagon going on and on about how great their products are... but they are good, really!

This is another one of those tried and tested products that without fail will never cease to disappoint me. You know those products you know and love that when a current products runs out and you are thinking hmmm what eye cream will I buy next? You know that this is a winner!

This is where the Clinique All About Eyes- $58 comes into play. Now there are 2 versions of this cream the normal version and the Rich which is pictured here. Now I mean rich cause it's thick in consistency not cause it's for the wealthy folk duh...
By having 2 versions I find it is suitable to me year round. I use the normal version in Summer when hydrating my skin is not an issue and the Rich one in Winter when my poor skin is feeling dry and unloved.

It really does feel amazing around your eyes. It isn't scented which I really appreciate and it very gentle. You really only need a tiny amount for each eye. When I am applying eye cream I make sure I am very gentle around the eye and pat the cream in- DO NOT rub your eye area. For more tips about applying eye cream you can view my blog here and here.

Ok have you read those tips? Great... moving along...

This cream works really well at getting rid of those pesky dark circles and puffiness. I actually feel like the skin under my eye which when I am run can feel really thin, I find with this cream actually feels more plump which makes my eye makeup look better and makes me look healthier.

I always use my eye cream morning and night as you guys should as well. As well as using it directly under my eye and on my eye lid I also extend it to the outer corner around my eye and that area as I feel that as this is where crows feet will appear, that I should be nourishing and protecting this area whilst I can to prevent the damage occurring.

I usually buy Clinique from Myer or David Jones but you can also buy online from shops like strawberrynet where it is much cheaper.

Short & Sweet- Keeping your eye bags at bay!

As we enter the party season (yippee!!!) I also know what comes with the good is also the bad. With lots of partying equals late nights, not enough sleep or good food and our bodies pay the price for us having too much fun.
I don't know about you but for me not only does it show with spots on my face but also with bags under my eyes.

Enter this little tip... Now I know you are all great at applying your eye cream morning and night aren't you? Yes you are. So when you get home tonight or if you are home now, pop your eye cream in the fridge. This way not only will it works its wonders on your peepers but it will cool them down and reduce the swelling causing the "puffiness" and voila- you are ready to do it all over again!

For a great eye cream I recommend: Clinique "All about eyes" and the rich version in Winter -$58 (I'll blog more about this later)

Short & Sweet- Correct way to apply eyecream

Correct way to apply eye cream
I know all of you are all very good girls and apply your eyecream morning and night but what you may not realise is if you are applying it correctly...
This is just a very simple tip but when you apply it make sure you use your ring finger (next to your pinkie) as this finger will apply the lightest pressure to that delicate area around your eye.
What most people don't realise is that it is very easy to bruise the skin there so you need to be careful. Also, don't rub the cream in, pat it onto your skin. Just like the picture suggests.
As this area of skin is so fragile you want to keep it happy and healthy for as long as possible
